Check the risk of flooding in your area :Cross Stitch – Do it online

You can find out the risk of flooding in a particular area or for a specific property using services provided by the Environment Agency and Land Registry.

If you want to know if an area is at risk of flooding, you can use the Environment Agency’s Flood Map.

How to use the service

The link below will take you to the Environment Agency website, where you will need to:

  • enter the postcode of the area you want to check into the search box provided on the right
  • click ‘Go’ and a detailed map of your area will be returned

You can then click on the map for more information about flood risk for that area. This information is provided free of charge.

If you are interested in the flood risk of an individual property, including land and gardens, you can use the Land Registry’s Flood Risk Indicator. The Flood Risk Indicator combines Environment Agency flood and Land Registry data to provide information about a property that can be downloaded from the website.

How to use the service

The link below will take you to the Land Registry website, where you will need to:

  • enter the house (or flat) number and postcode of the property you want to check the flood risk of

  • register with the website

  • have a valid credit or debit card ready to make the payment (£9 excluding VAT)
