Order a civil partnership certificate :Cross Stitch – Government, citizens and rights
You can order a civil partnership certificate from the General Register Office or the local register office where the partnership was registered.
There are two types of certificate following a civil partnership. One version includes the partners’ addresses at the time of registration and the other does not.
Both types of certificate include:
- date and place of civil partnership
- name, date of birth and status of each partner e.g. single, dissolved partnership
- occupation of each partner
- name and occupation of each partner’s parents
- names of the witnesses
If you wish to apply for a certificate with addresses, you must provide the addresses of both civil partners as recorded at the time the partnership was registered.

You can order a civil partnership certificate online. You need full details of the event or supply the certificate index reference. You can pay online too.

If you supply the certificate index reference, the certificate is sent within 4 working days. Without the reference, it is sent within 15 working days.
All standard service certificates will cost £9.25.
Priority Service
If you order by 4.00 pm, your certificate is sent the next working day.
All priority service certificates will cost £23.40.
You can order a certificate by telephone or post from either the General Register for all events registered in England or Wales, or from the local register office where the event took place.
