What is the total cost of buying a registration mark from DVLA?

All online registrations for immediate purchase include VAT and the £80 assignment fee. This means there is nothing else to pay except for the costs of having the actual physical plates made up. NO HIDDEN CHARGES!

The prices advertised for registrations being offered for sale at our auctions / online auction sales are reserve prices. Bidding will start from these prices and exclude the assignment fee, VAT and buyer’s premium.

We do not offer any form of payment scheme or instalment plan. Payment must be made in full.

Are there any restrictions on my choice of registration mark?

If you are buying a registration mark from one of DVLA’s auctions then the full Terms and Conditions of Sale will be contained within the auction catalogue. What happens if I’m buying a personalised registration as a gift or on behalf of someone else?

If you are buying a DVLA personalised registration for, or on behalf of another person you will be recorded as the purchaser and the person for whom the registration has been bought for will be recorded as the nominee. The registration mark will then be able to be put on a vehicle registered in your name or that of the nominee.

If you are buying a registration on behalf of a company we will record the company’s name as the purchaser.

What if I’m a resident of Northern Ireland, Channel Islands or the Isle of Man?

How do I buy?

The registration numbers available direct on our website can only be purchased online. Unfortunately you cannot purchase via the telephone.

Once you have found your desired registration via our search facility, click on ‘buy now’ and follow the instructions through to complete your purchase.

You will receive an email confirming your purchase within 24 hours. Once you’ve received this, you will be able to view your registration number using your online account.
