Travel :Cross Stitch – Young people

Whether you want to broaden your horizons through travel or simply get around using public transport or your own car, this section has all the information you need.

If you find getting around your local area a bit tough and have an idea about how to make it better, contact your local authority. Transport planners should check with young people to see what types of public transport they need and change their plans if they’re not working.

You may want to suggest:

  • building a website that shows what’s going on in your area and how you can get there
  • giving young people discounts on local buses, trains and taxis
  • ways that public transport could be made safer for young people

The best people to contact in your local authority about transport arrangements are:

  • your local councillor
  • the director of children’s services
  • a member of your local Youth Parliament

If you want to drive something other than a car, this section tells you what options are available to you if you have a valid driving licence. It also has information on how you can change your licence to drive other types of vehicle.
