Work Clubs – support to help you find work :Cross Stitch – Employment

Works Clubs are for anyone who is unemployed and looking for work. Work Clubs give you the opportunity to make the most of the local knowledge that’s available, to support you in your search for a job. Find out more, including how to join a Work Club.

Work Clubs are one of the services that Jobcentre Plus offers to help you get back into work.

Work Clubs are run by local groups, which could include:

  • local employers
  • voluntary organisations
  • community groups
  • local authorities

These groups have the knowledge and resources to help you find work. They can provide you and other people looking for work with a place to meet to:

  • share job hunting ideas and tips
  • find jobs and training opportunities
  • share experiences
  • meet people that may be able to help you improve your chances of finding a job
  • get the support you need to help you find work

Each Work Club will give you the support you need to help you find the work that’s available locally.

Some Work Clubs may also be available to support specific groups of people, for example, if you:

  • are a professional
  • are an executive
  • have been made redundant from a specific industry
  • are a young person aged between 18 and 24 years old

Taking part in a Work Club is entirely voluntary. They are available to any unemployed person who is looking for work. You may join a Work Club at any time.

A Jobcentre Plus adviser can discuss and agree with you whether a Work Club is right for you.

To continue to get your Jobseeker’s Allowance while taking part in a Work Club, you must:

  • continue to look for work
  • attend your regular jobsearch reviews
